The latest version of SysML (Systems Modeling Language) – a standard language for systems engineering – SysML v2, released its beta specification in July 2023. Since then, efforts have been underway to finalize the official specification.
At Change Vision, we’ve been closely following the evolution of SysML v2 for over a decade, continuously following the discussions and development trends as a modeling tool vendor.
We are now pleased to announce the release of a SysML v2-compatible text-based editor, available as an extension for Visual Studio Code.
💡 About the SysMLv2 Editor
SysMLv2 Editor is a lightweight code editor that supports the SysML v2 , designed to work as an extension in Visual Studio Code. It provides essential modeling and authoring support features, including:
- Syntax highlighting
- Real-time detection of syntax and spelling errors
- Jump to definitions and reference navigation
- Outline view for structural overview
- Automatic diagram generation

This editor was developed internally as part of our own research and implementation efforts around SysML v2. It is released separately from our main product family, Astah, in a distinct format.
While the tool currently offers only a minimal feature set, we hope it serves as a first step for users to get hands-on experience with SysML v2 and build a deeper understanding.
