I wrote this TIPS “Change the color of Note by its type” a month ago. This time, I will introduce you two more features that will be very useful especially when reviewing diagrams. If you haven’t used these features before, let’s give it a try.
1: Highlighter pen/Freehand tool
Astah has a “Freehand” tool to write directly on diagrams, can be used for circling or marking models directly on your diagram during presentations..etc. It can be used for any purposes as you like.
“Expression” is one of the key values that we deliver with Astah. So this ability to let your diagrams express “more” helps convey the meanings of the diagram represents and communicate better. A lost of customers I meet told me that they use these features during reviews.
• How to use
You can draw lines by using “Freehand tool” by clicking on the icon that looks like a string, which is located at seventh or eighth from the right on the tool bar.
For the lines, you can change the width, color, style (dotted line..etc.) and add arrows.
• Highlighter pen
You can draw a transparent line by using “Highlighter pen” tool.
Besides creating an emphasis by enclosing the models, you can use the highlighter pen tool which works just like a highlighter on the paper.
2 Mini Icon
You can add a “Mini Icon” on the right top corner of the models.
Previously it was only available in Mind Maps, but since version 7.1 you can add the mini icons in any diagrams.
• How to Add “Mini Icon”
Select a model on diagram and click ” Add Mini Icon ” on the right side of the toolbar.
※On Mindmaps, you can add mini icons from model’s pop-up menu, [Add Mini Icon].
•Plenty of Icons!
By clicking ▼, it shows all the pre-installed icons.
It contains diagram and model icons and also a progress charts…etc. You can also add your own favorite icons to the list by choosing [Edit User Icon].
